I had very limited free time lately and as a result there wasn’t any time left for photography. Finally last Sunday I managed to make a short visit to the “Antonis Tritsis” Park in order to keep myself fit for the upcoming spring migration which will start soon. This park is the biggest wetland inside the city of Athens. A large number of Black-headed Gulls, Cormorants and a few Herons are wintering there each year. In addition, some individuals from less common (for the area) species choose to spend the winter there. This time I was surprised to find there a male Northern Shoveler and two Water Rails.
Of course, the park has many more “permanent” residents who live there and they offer plenty of photographic opportunities such as this Common Moorhen.
