The “captain”

During our stay at the Lake Petron area we passed many times from a certain spot between the lake and the village Petres. Every time we were there, we spotted this female Sparrowhawk. It was either sitting on a tree, or on a boat (as in this photo). Sometimes we saw it passing by, patrolling the area, looking for prey. The photo of this Water Rail is from the same spot. Just a few seconds after this photo was taken, the bird started to run on the icy water screaming, in order to hide inside the reeds surrounding the lake. The Sparrowhawk missed it for just a few centimeters. As a result, the "captain" of this area should now look for another victim, while the lucky (and fast) Water Rail didn't show up again for quite some time...
